Thijs Dallinga has received his first senior Netherlands national team call-up following the departures of Steven Bergwijn and Brian Brobbey. Dallinga was originally not included in the selection ahead of this month’s Euro qualifiers, but he was called up on Monday after Brobbey and Bergwijn were deemed not match-fit.
Dallinga is currently in incredible form. The 23-year-old striker has scored seven goals so far this season with five of those goals coming in his last six games. The former FC Emmen and Excelsior forward will join Oranje’s training camp on Tuesday.
Steven Bergwijn and Brian Brobbey were both in action on Sunday. The Ajax duo featured in an intense 2-2 draw with Almere City, which left the Amsterdammers 12th in the Eredivisie table. Both players will return to Ajax having initially been selected by national coach Ronald Koeman. The Netherlands face Ireland this Saturday followed by a trip to Gibraltar as they aim to secure qualification for Euro 2024.
