Netherlands are all set to host Ireland in the second T20I on Sunday, May 19, at the VRA Cricket Ground in Amstelveen, in the tri-series also involving Scotland.
It is going to be a short turnaround for the Netherlands as they will be taking on Scotland in the series opener on Saturday at the same venue. The Dutch side will be in action for the first time since February when they won a tri-series featuring Nepal and Namibia. This tri-series was played in Kirtipur, Nepal. Netherlands won three matches and lost one in their campaign, while one game ended without a result. The European side will want to build on the good run of form when they take on neighbours Ireland.
Meanwhile, Ireland are coming off a 1-2 T20I series defeat against Pakistan at home earlier this month. After winning the first game, Paul Stirling and Co. by a close margin and the Irish side was comprehensively defeated in the next two games by the Asian giants.
Both Netherlands and Ireland are set to participate in next month’s T20 World Cup 2024. They will be looking at this tri-series as a dress rehearsal for the upcoming marquee event.

Pitch Report
The VRA Cricket Ground in Amstelveen produces some balanced pitches where there is something in it for the bowlers as well as the batters. The new ball can swing around for the first couple of overs and bowlers will need to make good use of it. Once the batters get set, a lot of runs are there for the taking. 221/3 is the highest T20I score at this venue. Meanwhile, 69 is the lowest. Winning the toss and opting to bowl first could be the better option as the chasing team will get the chance to assess the surface.
