The R5 is packed with technology, is produced in France and fits perfectly into the energy transition and the style of the 21st century. MASTERS speaks with Anouk Poelmann, the woman at the helm of this established car brand. What are her hidden gems and who or what drives her inspiration?

What is your favorite museum and why? 

”My favorite museum is the Louvre in Paris. The building itself, once a royal palace, is a work of art in itself. With over 35.000 works of art in the collection, you will never get tired of it.”

What book has made a big impression on you recently?

The book Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson has made a big impression on me recently. It gives a deep insight into the life of Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple. I was particularly inspired by the way Jobs managed to transform technology and design, which also fits in well with our drive for innovation within Renault Group.”

Do you have a favorite movie that you would recommend to everyone? 

”Intouchables is a film I would recommend to everyone. It is a French, true story film about the special friendship between an aging aristocrat and a young ex-delinquent from the suburbs of Paris. The accompanying music album is also recommended.”

What is your favorite hotel and what makes it so unique?

”The Ritz in Paris is my favorite hotel. The hotel has a rich history and is a symbol of luxury and elegance. The service is unparalleled, the architecture is beautiful and the location on Place Vendôme is iconic.”

What is your favorite travel destination and what is the hidden gem here that tourists often miss?

”Paris is definitely a favorite destination, with its beautiful mix of architecture, art, culture and world-famous landmarks. I would also mention Sydney. This multicultural city offers adventure, culture, great food and beautiful parks. I lived there for five years, so I speak from experience!”

Which artist inspires you the most and why?

”Vincent van Gogh inspires me the most. He was an expressionist who distorted reality to express emotions and ideas. His paintings are colorful, varied and have a wonderful freshness and directness.”

 Who is your favorite artist and how does this music influence your daily life?

”Jean-Michel Jarre is my favorite artist. This French composer and musician is a pioneer in electronic music. I had the privilege of meeting him for my work, as he created the sound experience for our new cars, including the R5, which will be on display at MASTERS EXPO.”

What is your favorite restaurant and what dish would you recommend there?

“My favorite restaurant is RIJKS®, a luxury dining venue in the Rijksmuseum. They serve refined dishes inspired by Dutch ingredients.”

What is your favorite store and what do you buy there? 

”The rnlt© store in the heart of Paris is one of my favorite stores. This beautiful 180 m² store offers car enthusiasts a unique experience, with a wide range of Renault merchandise and a glimpse of the latest models. Nice detail: an rnlt© store will soon open in Rotterdam!”
